Tina spearheaded a reforestation initiative titled “Used Furniture for New Life”, gathering 107 mangrove seedlings planted at Mangunharjo Beach, Semarang City, on January 28, 2023. This planting event also involved Mr. Sururi, a representative of the Mangunharjo farmers’ group.

Why Mangroves?

Mangroves were chosen by Tina for their significant environmental and socio-economic benefits to the Mangunharjo coastline. Ecologically, mangroves act as a natural defense against coastal erosion, tidal floods, and even tsunamis. Additionally, they are highly effective carbon absorbers, mitigating the impact of climate change on Earth.

From a socio-economic perspective, mangroves provide valuable resources for local communities. They can be used as firewood, raw materials for furniture and handicrafts, and processed into food products, contributing to the coastal economy. Moreover, mangrove forests offer opportunities for tourism and environmental education, attracting visitors and raising awareness about conservation.

A Call for Action

The collaboration between Tina and LindungiHutan is expected to inspire other stakeholders to take part in environmental preservation, particularly through mangrove planting initiatives. This effort is a sustainable action that creates a positive and lasting impact for generations to come.
